The Halifax Seaport Farmers Market is cooperatively owned and operated by Nova Scotia
Producer's. The Farmer's Market Investment Cooperative CEDIF will provide the capital required to convert the
former seaport terminal into the new Seaport Farmers' Market, creating an ecological masterpiece on the Halifax
waterfront. Locally-grown organic produce from farmers' markets around the world are key to a healthy lifestyle
and reduce environmental impact. The new Seaport Farmers' Market will employ high-performance sustainable design
principles to minimize energy use to 80% of a conventional market, combining daylight strategies,
hyper-efficient envelops, passive / active ventilation and efficient thermal delivery systems. Onsite renewables
will be employed to further reduce the building's environmental fooprint and minimize CO2 emmissions. These
initiatives will permit the Seaport Farmers' Market to achive LEED Gold Certification.
